Hi
*|FNAME|*,
Our thoughts
are with everyone across our nation who has been affected by the
current bushfires. If you or anyone you know has been effected
by the fires and require IT assistance please let us know and
we can work out some way of helping.
At the end
of last year we brought Ben onboard as a new technician. As well
as general IT support, Ben is a registered data cabler, so we
can now do work on phone and data cabling. This includes the NBN
(FTTN, FTTC, FTTB), wireless network infrastructure and running
new cabling inside business premises. Let me know if you need
any sort of cabling work and we can provide a free quote.
February 11th
is Safer Internet Day. The aim is to raise awareness about the
role we can all play in creating a better and safer internet for
our community. More information is below.
Some of the
new work we will be doing this month includes:
- travelling
all over Adelaide performing an IT system audit for a large
financial organisation.
- upgrading
routers across the Adelaide stores for 2 other national companies.
- installing
new media players at a large fast food outlet.
So if you
have anything coming up please let us know ASAP so we can lock
times and dates in.
Stay cool
and catch you all next month.
Cheers
David Perkovic

Safer
Internet Day |
On
Tuesday 11 February 2020, DP Computing is pleased to be supporting
the work of Australia’s eSafety Commissioner by spreading
online safety messages and promoting the positive use of digital
technology.
Safer Internet
Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the role we can
all play in creating a better and safer internet for our community.
Celebrated
in over 150 countries, the Safer Internet Day theme is: ‘Together
for a better internet’. We are encouraging all Australians
to start the chat to help improve online safety within their communities,
and make every day a Safer Internet Day.
This year
we are supporting Safer Internet Day by helping promote safe online
usage on our social media chanels and newsletter via the hashtags
#SID2020 #SIDesafety and we encourage you to join in!
Help spread
the word and raise awareness. The first step to a better internet
is to talk about the potential risks and ways to avoid them. You
can host a Safer Internet Day activity or simply start a conversation
in your community about coming ‘together for a better internet’.

Out
and About in January |
Here
are some of our adventures from last month:
- We are
still upgrading a lot of clients from older Windows 7 machines
to new Windows 10 computers. We have even installed a few fanless
systems that are designed to work in dusty areas.
- An email
migration to Office365 for a client in North Adelaide. We will
be migrating their local file server to SharePoint Online shortly.
- Stefan
had some "fun" doing some Cisco work for a client
at the Department of Defence in Edinburgh. He couldn't take
any sort of electronic devices into the building
- Setting
up a new computer and networking equipment for a new startup
company.
- Ben performed
an IT audit at a mining site in Adelaide's south.
