Hi
*|FNAME|*,
Welcome to
our November newsletter.
As we come
to the end of another year, what plans do you have for 2021? Yes,
your best laid plans for this year are probably in tatters now,
but I believe that when you have been knocked down, you must pick
yourself up and try again. (and again and again)
To be honest,
we have no idea what next year has in store for us, but we can
still dream big dreams and set big goals. Look for growth and
development and positive change.
With the
governments $150K instant tax right off there has never been a
better time to invest in new IT equipment. Whatever you have got
planned next year, if you are not currently with the right IT
support partner, or if you are looking to upgrade your IT infrastructure
then we really should talk.
Together with
the SA Technology Collective we are restarting our social drinks
sessions again this month - see below for more info.
Have a great
month,
David Perkovic

Security
Tips |
Security
is one of the most important areas in the IT. It is also one of
the most overlooked areas, but if you lose all your data accidentally
or in a hacking attack what would you do and how much money would
it cost you?
This month
we will talk about security software.
Antivirus
Is It Enough?
A lot of businesses
think that just having antivirus software on their computer is
enough to protect them. In fact it isn't enough and an antivirus
package is just one small part of a multi layered security approach
that you need to properly protect businesses big or small. Those
layers include a firewall on the perimeter to your network, multi
factor authentication on all account, DNS filtering, staff training,
regular installation of software and operating system updates
as well as antivirus and firewall software on all computers.

Out
and About |
Some
of our work over the past month includes:
- attending
a breakfast at the Arkaba hosted by the Genesis
Business Group with guest speaker Martin Haese from Business
SA. He was talking about how businesses can move ahead with
COVID and one of his main themes was that businesses should
embrace technology and automation more.
- Our data
cabler Ben, now has his EWPA Yellow Card. Together with Dave
F (who already has the card), this allows us to use and operate
scissor lifts and other elevated work platforms to help with
cabling and wireless access points installation and maintenance.
- Stefan
and Bevin completed their training on HP Nimble Storage. This
will allow them both to perform warranty work for one of our
partners.
- David,
Stefan and Bevin attended a SMBiT meeting where we saw the effects
of a ransomware virus being executed live on a Windows 10 system.
They saw the effects and ways in which a businesses data can
be protected from such an attack.

Bevin installed
the point of sale terminals and networking equipment for a new
store in the Mile End Home Maker Center.

Bevin
had a lovely view while doing some late night work in the Adelaide
CBD. |
