Hello *|FNAME|*,

Happy Father's Day!

The weather is getting warmer and the footy finals are here that must mean it is springtime! Before the warmer weather hits, now is a good time to ensure the fans on your IT equipment are not clogged with dust and your battery back equipment is working. Give us a call to check this out and give your systems a service.

I attended a security conference last month and one statement on a slide IMHO summed up things precisely in regards to cybersecurity with SMB's and what a lot of them are missing:

The plan is to have a plan before you need a plan!

One easy to get this plan is to go through a security framework or certification. This is where the new SMB1001 certification fits in. This security framework is designed specifically for small businesses in mind and offers effective security measures without the high costs and complexity of other frameworks. Contact us or check out our blog article to find out how your business can become more cyber secure.

Cyber insurance companies are already looking at ensuring their clients are certified and may not insure companies who are not (or significantly increase their premiums if they don't). The Australian Government will also be passing legislation shortly to increase the privacy laws and SMB1001 aims to align with this.

That's it for this month, stay cyber safe and I will catch you online (or in real life!).

Out and About

Here are some of the things we have been up to in August:

  • David and Sean had a great time at the AdelaideSEC security conference. It was a great event run by AISA and was packed with valuable insights and learning opportunities.
  • We attended the Leader Expo at the Adelaide Convention Center. There we heard about the latest in IT from suppliers and manufacturers such as Microsoft, Lenovo, Ubiquiti , AMD, APC, Asus, LG and WatchGuard.
  • Samantha attended the VogueCodes In Conversation Adelaide Breakfast at SOL Rooftop restaurant at Eos Skycity. There she had a heard and talked with some amazing women in a variety of different technology fields.
  • The weather wasn't the best when Fahim did some work out at Dawes Point in Sydney. Thus he couldn't admire the views over the harbour.
  • Fahim attended the D-Link Certified Network Professional Wireless training (DCNP Wireless) in Macquarie Park. Zee also completed the ISC2 Cyber Security certification (CC) in Adelaide.
  • Fahim and Neil were busy in and around the data centers in Sydney. Fahim swapped out some high end Nvidia GPU's in a server used for AI applications.

David and Sean had a great time at the AdelaideSEC security conference. It was a great event run by AISA and was packed with valuable insights and learning opportunities.

Some key points were:
- cyber insurance is a must have.
- you need to protect all devices and not just those with a "keyboard and mouse".
- be careful what you share on the internet as OSINT techniques are getting very advanced.

Most of the Adelaide based techs attended an industry expo and seminar held by one of our suppliers Leader at the Adelaide Convention Center.

They all learnt a lot about the latest in tech from companies and manufacturers such as Microsoft, Lenovo, Ubiquiti, AMD, APC, Asus, LG and WatchGuard.

Be on the lookout for some great new tech coming out from Ubiquiti, Microsoft and Lenovo.

Some photos of a recent Starlink and Ubiquiti network install we did out in the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region.
